Institute of Technology - Showground

This new building, which is an extension of the Riseholme College Showground campus, will include flexible teaching spaces, a modern learning resource centre and three engineering workshops, among others. This new building was designed to be all-electric and with an emphasis on energy efficiency to help reduce the carbon footprint. Through a "fabric-first" approach and a thermal bridge-free design, we were able to achieve annual operating energy that greatly exceeds the RIBA 2030 Challenge target. Furthermore, this significantly reduces the need for technologies to keep the building at a comfortable temperature, since heatlosses through its fabric are considerably eliminated. Furthermore, the design was carried out under BREEAM standards to achieve a "Very Good" rating and meet RIBA's Sustainable Outcomes.
